Rock and Roll Bash Makes Beautiful Music for Casey Cares

Baltimore, MD – October 10, 2006… The Fourth Annual Rock and Roll Bash held at the Bethesda North Marriott on September 30, brought in over $20,000 to benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, a non-profit charity that provides uplifting programs for critically ill children and their families throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. As a surprise, singer Lesley Gore joined the band on stage and sang her 1960’s hits, “It’s My Party” and “Judy’s Turn to Cry.” Jon and Eileen Belinkie of Health Insurance Specialists in Rockville, MD, co-chaired the event. For the second year in a row, Lynn Hoffman of VH1 Classic emceed the event which included such talented musicians as Nils Lofgren from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Mark Rivera and Crystal Taliefero of the Billy Joel Band, Sam Albright and Eric Biondo of the Monkees, Derek St. Holmes of the Ted Nugent Band, Eric Martin of Mr. Big, and many more. Over 250 rocked the night away while also enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, elaborate face painting, and a silent auction. “Twenty five to thirty percent of the children we serve live in and around the DC area. The funds that this event brought in will certainly benefit those children,” said Casey Baynes, Founder of the Casey Cares Foundation. Headquartered in Baltimore, MD, the Foundation provides Birthday Blasts, Celebration Vacations and Family Festivities for children with life threatening illnesses from Johns Hopkins Hospital, University of MD Medical Center, Georgetown University Hospital, Children’s National Medical Center, Sinai Hospital, Medical College of VA and Hershey Medical Center. Jon Belinkie, event co-chair stated, “I’m proud that I’m involved with the Casey Cares Foundation and this fund raiser. Anything I can do to lighten the burden of those children is the least I can do.”
