Promoting their
new 100 Calorie Snack Packs, Kraft Foods was
seeking 100 Extraordinary Women from across the
United States. Based on a 100 word essay
nominating Maryland resident, Casey Baynes,
Founder and Executive Director of the Casey
Cares Foundation, she was selected as one of
100 “Extraordinary Women” from thousands of
entries. The Casey Cares Foundation provides
uplifting programs with a
special touch to critically ill children
and their families throughout the Maryland and
Mid-Atlantic area.
Judged by a panel of experts, entries were selected on the basis of “how a woman improved her family and/or community in an inspirational way, as well as originality and composition” of the 100 word or less nomination.
Casey Baynes founded the Casey Cares Foundation in 2000 and under her leadership the 501 (c ) 3 charity has grown from serving five area families to offering tickets to sporting and entertainment events, birthday surprises, and weekend getaways to families in six states. The charity recently added the Kami’s Jammies program which provides new sleepware and themed pajama parties to children on extended hospital stays.
“I feel honored to be among such a
select list of national contestants,” Ms.
Baynes stated, “But more importantly, I feel
grateful that we can make a difference to
families who are facing something no family
should ever have to go through.”
Ms. Baynes has won a 3-Day/2-Night roundtrip to the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 27th, reception, and participation in a photo shoot wich may be featured in one or more national magazine advertorials.
