Fourth Annual Golf Tournament was a "hole" lot of fun!

Over $30,000 was proudly raised for our special uplifting children’s programs at the Fourth Annual Casey Cares Foundation Golf Tournament on Monday, July 23rd.  Event Chair and Casey Cares Board Member, Beth Wieczorek, played a huge role in helping to prepare for this fantastic day.  Beth remarked, “I was honored this year to again have the opportunity to chair the Casey Cares Golf Tournament.  As a board member of Casey Cares, I have had the opportunity to meet a number of children who are struggling with critical illnesses.  The strength the children and their families demonstrate on a daily basis is an inspiration to me, and I am so grateful to all who participated in our event to raise money for such an important cause. ”

More than 100 Casey Cares supporters kicked off their week by arriving bright and early at the beautiful Maryland Golf & Country Club in Bel Air.  The morning began with registration and a delicious buffet lunch, followed by a shot-gun Florida Scramble start for our 26 fabulous foursomes.  With the sunny weather right on our side, all players took to their carts for a great day of golf.  Later that evening, a cocktail reception and luscious steak dinner was enjoyed by all, followed by silent and live auctions, awards, and even a premium raffle featuring foursomes to four of Maryland’s best golf courses.  A new car from Thompson KIA was awaiting the lucky winner of the hole-in-one, but that prize will have to hang around until next year!

With a score of 136, we congratulate first place gross winners Kyle Hannan, Mike Hudak, Jonathan Steckler, and Tag Zentz.  First place net winners included Brian Best, Buzz Bosica, Jim Long Sr., and Jim Long Jr., with a score of 138.  Longest drive winners went to Cathy Bowen for the women and Kyle Hannan (father of Kade, one of the many special children in our programs) for the men.  Hats off to you all!

Casey Cares would like to extend our appreciation to both WMAR-TV Channel 2 and WMIX 106.5 for granting this event such wonderful promotion as our media and radio sponsors.  A tremendous thank you goes out to Camtec and Sons of the American Legion for supporting this event as our top Sky’s the Limit Sponsors.  A thank you also goes out to Charles Funk Photography who did a spectacular job of capturing the day’s festivities.

Again, our team at Casey Cares extends our deepest thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and Board Members for making this event such a success.  Make sure to keep your clubs in a safe place, as planning for next year’s tournament is already underway.  Thinking ahead is just par for the course!

Third Annual Golf Tournament fit to a "tee"

Along with their committee members, co-chairs Justin Polun and Beth Wieczorek helped make this tournament the most successful to date. Beth commented, “The support that Casey Cares provides to the children and their families in the program is so important, and I am honored to have had the opportunity to help raise money to support their programs through the golf tournament.”

Held at the exquisite Maryland Golf & Country Club in Bel Air, MD, the day kicked off with registration and a buffet lunch. Thirty teams then prepared for a shot-gun start as the 120 golfers took their carts and played on a beautiful, but difficult, course in perfect, sunny weather.

After a fantastic day of golf, players enjoyed a cocktail reception followed by a hearty steak dinner, awards, live and silent auctions, door prizes and a premium raffle to play on four of the area’s best golf courses. A gorgeous white convertible from Boyle Buick Pontiac was awaiting the hole-in-one prize winner, but it will have to stay parked until next year! Congratulations to Frank O’Hara, Terry Walsh, Bobby Walsh, and Kin Wright who came in first place with a gross score of 70. The first net winners were Jonas Dahlen, Mike DiMayo, Mike McCabe, and Barry Steinfelder, with a score of 120. Also to be congratulated for longest drive is Shannon Smith for the men, and Beth Wieczorek for the women!

A huge thank you goes out to our media sponsors, WMAR-TV Channel 2 and Lite 101.9 FM, for such wonderful promotion of our event. We would also like to extend our appreciation to our top Sky’s the Limit Sponsors, including E-angel, Mammoth Golf, Merrill Lynch, Stephen D. Cornbrooks Memorial Fund, Sons of the American Legion, and The Ultimate Affair Photographers. Thanks again to all of our gracious board members, staff, and volunteers for making the day such a success. Third time was truly a charm, so keep your clubs handy for next year’s event. Planning has already begun!
