Better Together Program

Better Together encourages families who have lost a child to continue their participation for an additional year. During that time, we hope to help families regain strength and focus on healing. We also recommend looking into the support groups listed below.

The Compassionate Friends - The Compassionate Friends is about transforming the pain of grief into the elixir of hope. It takes people out of the isolation society imposes on the bereaved and lets them express their grief naturally. With the shedding of tears, healing comes. And the newly bereaved get to see people who have survived and are learning to live and love again (description from site).

Bereaved Parents of the USA - Bereaved Parents of the USA (BP/USA) was founded in 1995 by a group of bereaved parents from across the country. Their sole purpose for organizing this group was to offer support, understanding, encouragement and hope to other bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents after the death of their children, brother, sister or grandchildren. This purpose remains the thrust of BP/USA today (description from site)

The Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland - The Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland is a non profit organization whose purpose is to promote quality End-of-Life Care.  The Network acts as an advocate for individuals and families facing the myriad of physical, psychological, spiritual and practical challenges associated with a life-limiting diagnosis, prognosis and with bereavement (description from site).

Comfort Zone Camp - Comfort Zone Camp is the nation’s largest bereavement camp. Comfort Zone Camps are offered free of charge to children ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. The camps are held year-round in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia.  Comfort Zone Camps create an environment where grieving children can have fun and break the isolation death often brings, while learning valuable coping skills for their daily lives (description from site).
